It has been established that trans fats in human breast milk differ with maternal consumption of trans fats, and that the quantity of trans fats within the bloodstream of breastfed babies fluctuates with the quantities found of their milk. In 1999, reported percentages of trans fats (in comparison to general fat) in human milk ranged from 1% in Spain, 2% in France, 4% in Germany, and 7% in Canada and the United States.
