Designed via Claude Veraart on the University of Louvain in 2002, this is a spiral cuff electrode across the optic nerve behind the attention. It is connected to a stimulator implanted in a small depression within the skull. The stimulator receives alerts from an externally worn digicam, which can be translated into electric alerts that stimulate the optic nerve directly.
